A Chartered Building Surveyor with 20 years experience working in property portfolio management, Colin has built up a broad and extensive knowledge of the commercial property sector and in particular all building surveying, engineering and environmental services within a climate of constant legislative and economic pressure and change.

Previously employed at the Co-operative Insurance Society as Principal Building Surveyor, Colin was at the forefront of activities in the provision of sustainable property management for its £2bn Investment Portfolio and assisted the CIS in becoming a market leader in sustainable property management, providing opportunities to make a distinctive contribution to the environment, stakeholders and the wider community.

The main success being the adoption of an Environmental Management System which received ISO 14001 accreditation for it’s investment property portfolio. The first financial provider in the world to gain such accreditation.

The key areas being, portfolio energy management, CO2 reporting and purchase of renewable energy, setting policies and procedures for sustainable developments and major refurbishment, waste management, water conservation, training and awareness.

In summary, Colin has unique experience in the delivery and implementation of transparent and cost effective practices within the area of sustainable property portfolio management and socially responsible investment. In particular the application of such practices having regards to the landlord and tenant relationship and specific lease responsibilities, where only a culture of influence may be possible.
